Shooting incident in Eagle-Vail

The Eagle County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a shooting that occurred at 154 Coyote Circle in Eagle-Vail.   

 

At 1:24am this morning (1/20/11), a 911 call was received from Nicholas Leake, age 25, reporting that his father, William Leake, age 43, sustained a gunshot wound to the head.   

 

William Leake was air-lifted to a hospital in Grand Junction where he is currently undergoing treatment.   

 

Nicholas Leake was arrested and charged with violating his probation for being under the influence of alcohol.  Nicholas is currently being held at the Eagle County Detention Facility. 

A statement made by William Leake indicates that the gunshot wound was self-inflicted.   

 

Eagle County Sheriff’s Office deputies are still investigating this incident.
