Eagle County can issue certified copies of death certificates for deaths occurring in Eagle County. Colorado is a closed record state meaning that individuals who can provide proof of relationship or tangible interest in a death certifcate are eligible to purchase. Please see the eligilibility requirements.
Effective August 1, 2012: The cost for death certificates will be $20 for the first copy and $13 for additional copies of the same record ordered at the same time.
Death certificates can be obtained by completing an application (second page is Spanish). The application can then be brought to our office in person or mailed. Please include a copy of your drivers license or passport, proof of relationship or interest (see eligibility list), along with payment. Credit cards are accepted with a $.50 convienence fee for each application.

Applications may be hand delivered to our Eagle office for certificates to be mailed to the requestor. Same day service is available Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The cost of a death certificate is $17 for the first copy and $10 each for additional copies.
