March 7, 2017 – Castle Peak Senior Life and Rehabilitation has been approved by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to accept Medicaid and Medicare for its skilled nursing, short-term rehabilitation and memory care services.
Providing services to Medicaid-eligible seniors was a requirement of the $5 million loan and land donation made to the facility by the Eagle County Housing and Development Authority. According to project agreements, Castle Peak must make reasonable efforts that at least 20 percent of the residents in skilled nursing are eligible for Medicaid.
“We know the process for obtaining approval for Medicare and Medicaid acceptance from the federal government is lengthy. We applaud Castle Peak for their efforts and are thrilled to have this facility now serving our seniors of all incomes,” said Commissioner Kathy Chandler-Henry.
The assisted living apartments accept private pay, long-term care insurance and life insurance policy conversion.
The 64-bed Castle Peak project was built following decades of community effort and fundraising, and is currently serving 21 residents. The facility opened its doors in October 2016 and is owned and operated by Augustana Care.
