Early Childhood Services
Early Head Start is a comprehensive home visitation program for low-income, pregnant women and families with children younger than three. Weekly home visits, parent-child play groups, and child care provide information and support to enhance a child's development. Families must be able to provide transportation to child care.

Nurse-Family Partnership is a program in which specially-trained nurses provide home visits to first time, low-income mothers beginning early in pregnancy, continuing through the first two years of life.
Bright Beginnings offers all new parents with children younger than three a free packet of powerful parenting tools designed for infants and toddlers during an individual home visit or at a group parenting meeting.
Parenting Classes are offered in both English and Spanish. Various ten-week courses are offered in several locations throughout the year.
Family Child Care Licensing is an option for many individuals in our county. Information, assistance and incentives to become a licensed home child care provider can be found by calling our main office.

Protective Services for Children
Child Protection Services focus on the safety of the child and help families develop the strengths needed to assure the safety of all family members. Services include child and family assessments; counseling and parenting services, substance abuse treatment, and family life skills mentoring.
To report suspected abuse and neglect call and ask to speak to a caseworker or supervisor.

The names of persons reporting suspected abuse and neglect are confidential and will not be shared. Please call us if you are concerned about a child or family. There are many ways we can be of help.
Foster Care
Sustaining a healthy community in Eagle County includes providing foster homes for children who, unfortunately, find themselves caught in the child welfare system.
Families helping families is what Eagle County Foster Care is all about. Our program encompasses the idea of a unified community, committed to supporting our neighbors and families in need. Foster homes are currently needed for all ages of children, boys and girls, and from all cultural backgrounds. Eagle County provides foster care families with formal training, support from caseworkers, and foster parent support groups. For more information, please contact the HHS office at 328-8840. Family Counseling
Counseling is available to assist families in resolving family conflicts and behavior issues such as anger, domestic violence, and sexual abuse. Counseling is provided through a number of local therapists and agencies. Some services can be offered in the home.
Substance Abuse
Substance abuse services are provided through local therapists and agencies and may include group and individual therapy, drug testing, and residential care.
Parenting Skills
Parents face daily challenges in effective parenting. Classes to develop parenting skills are available through various community service providers, and home visitation services.
Youth in Conflict
Services are available for youth experiencing serious difficulties with the law, truancy, runaway, and other self harming behaviors. Services for these youth and their families include assessment of needs, referrals to community services, counseling, case management, and specialized treatment programs.
Connections to other Community Services
Services for families and children are enhanced through partnerships with other community agencies. Caseworkers can help families identify community services that are available and connect families to the specific services that will help their particular situation.
