2012 Events:
Buckin' Brewfest
On a sun soaked July afternoon there’s no better place to sip suds with friends than along the banks of the Eagle River, with the fun atmosphere of the county fair and a ProRodeo to ring in the summer night.
When: July 26, 2012, 5 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. during the Eagle County Fair & Rodeo
Where: Eagle County Fairgrounds, Eagle Colorado
Admission: $10 online or at the door. Beer tasting is included in ticket price. A maximum of 300 tickets will be sold. We expect this event to sell out. Please purchase your tickets early. Tickets are transferable to other persons. We do not need advance notice on ticket transfers.
Peoples Choice Award: Vote for your favorite brewery. Winning Brewery will be awarded a commemorative Eagle County Fair & Rodeo champion “Beer Buckle” for display in their brewery.
Age: You must be 21 years of age to enter and sample beers. A government issued ID will be required for entry. No refunds will be issued to underage purchasers of tickets.
Pets: Pets are not allowed at the fairgrounds.
Designated Drivers/Families: The Buckin’ Brewfest is an event during the Eagle County Fair & Rodeo. Bring the whole family and they can participate in the kids’ craft corral, carnival, Texaco Country Showdown, browse vendors or check out the livestock and 4-H exhibits. As always, younger children should not be left unattended at anytime during the Fair & Rodeo. Additional tickets are not needed for individuals not participating in the beer tasting.
Rain: All areas of the festival are covered, and event takes place rain or shine.
Safety: This is a beer tasting and appreciation event. We encourage you to drink in moderation, monitor your intake, drink plenty of water or other non-alcoholic beverage and eat frequently. If you do not have a designated drive please consider riding the ECO Transit buses to and from the event. Do not drive after the event, as police will be out in force. Your safety is priority one.
Food: Food and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase at the fest.
Entertainment: Music provided by the Texaco Country Showdown finalist competition. ProRodeo starts at 7 p.m.
Parking: West end of fairgrounds
Being a Buckin’ Brewfest volunteer is really fun! There is also a free t-shirt and food in it for you. Volunteers must be at least 21 (photo IDs will be checked) and are not permitted to drink during the hours of the fest, but will be able to taste the leftovers. We’ll need people to help work the door, run the registration booths, and dump the dump buckets.

Bill Schlegel, Eagle County Brand Inspector has been a lifetime resident in the Burns area. Bill, his wife Jill and family have made ranching their livelihood. Bill will speak on the history of branding both locally and state-wide as well as branding laws in Eagle County. Kids will have the opportunity to brand a piece of wood as a take home souvenir.

Canning is an important, safe method of food preservation if practiced properly. However, the process of food preservation has changed since the days your Grandma canned. Please join Colorado State University Extension and the Master Food Safety Advisor’s as they disseminate research-based information about how you evaluate using the hot water bath or pressure canner method to preserve food.

Laurel Potts, Horticulture agent for Colorado State University Extension in Eagle County will discuss and demonstrate different vegetable varieties and how to choose for success, tips on growing veggies in drought conditions and season extending materials and techniques. All that you need to know to GROW!
