If you are building a new home served by private wastewater, your building permit cannot be released until Environmental Health approves an onsite wastewater treatment system permit. If you are adding bedrooms to your home, you must also obtain an alteration permit to expand the capacity of your current system. Finally, if your system fails or is otherwise in need of repair, you must obtain a repair permit.
