Small plane crash in Gypsum, minor injuries reported

Oct. 24, 2017 – At approximately 6 p.m., a single-engine plane with two people on board made emergency landing in a field near Gypsum Creek Road south of Cooley Mesa Road. Both the pilot and the passenger sustained only minor injuries.

According to the pilot, he was attempting to land at the Eagle County Regional Airport (EGE) when he lost power. He found an open field and attempted to land the plane. The aircraft ended up on its roof.

The aircraft is a Cessna Centurion and is based out of Eagle.

Gypsum Fire Protection District, Eagle County Sheriff’s Office, Eagle County Paramedics, Eagle County Regional Airport and the Vail Public Safety and Communications Center responded to the incident.
