Upcoming Elections

On March 6, 2018 Colorado’s major political parties will hold precinct caucus meetings. In order to caucus, a voter must be affiliated with the Democratic or Republican party as of January 8, 2018.

What is a precinct caucus?

Precinct caucuses are gatherings of registered electors within a precinct who are affiliated with a particular major political party. Participants elect Precinct Leaders to serve on the County Party Central Committee which helps with voter outreach efforts for the party candidate. Caucus attendees also choose delegates to represent the precinct at the party’s county or district convention where they will nominate candidates to the ballot and approve the party’s platform.

Who can vote in a precinct caucus?

In order to vote in any precinct caucus a voter must be:

Affiliated with the party holding the caucus for at least 2 months before the caucus. (January 8, 2018).

Registered to vote no later than 29 days before the caucus. (February 5, 2018).

A resident of the precinct for at least 30 days.
