Final election reminders from the Clerk & Recorder

Contact: Teak Simonton Eagle County Clerk & Recorder at 970-328-8728 or teak.simonton@eaglcounty.us.

Election Day is Nov. 5 and all eligible voters should have received their mail ballots.  Voters are reminded to affix adequate postage to ballot envelopes if they choose to return them by mail. The amount will vary depending upon the enclosures required.

Most voters will be enclosing only a ballot and secrecy sleeve in the return envelope and one 46 cent stamp will suffice.  Ballots indicating that a copy of a voter’s identification is required may need additional postage. Voters are advised to confirm correct postage through the U.S. Postal Service.

Voters who have received a ballot and then subsequently change their residential address should be cautioned not to vote the original ballot, which could include districts and issues for their previous address.  Once a voter address is updated, the original ballot is voided and a new ballot style is generated and mailed.  This ballot, based on the new residential address, is the only ballot that should be voted and returned.

Voter Service and Polling Centers providing voter registration services, replacement ballots, ballot drop boxes and disabled access voting machines are open at the Avon, Eagle and El Jebel Clerk & Recorder Offices on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; on Saturday, Nov. 2 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.; and on Election Day from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Ballots must be received at a Clerk’s location no later than 7 p.m. on Nov. 5.  Ballots received after that time, even with postmarks on or before Nov. 5, cannot be counted per state law. Call 970-328-8726 for additional information.
