Commissioners make Clerk & Recorder appointment

Contact: Jeanne McQueeney, Chair, Board of County Commissioners, 970-328-8605, jeanne.mcqueeney@eaglecounty.us

Dec. 14, 2016 – The Eagle County Board of Commissioners has appointed Chief Deputy Clerk Regina O’Brien to the post of Clerk & Recorder, effective immediately. She will fulfill the remainder of the term that was vacated when Teak Simonton was elected County Treasurer, and will hold the position until the 2018 General Election.

O’Brien was hired as chief deputy clerk in April 2013. In her role, she was responsible for assisting the Clerk & Recorder in leading and managing all aspects of the Clerk’s office, including motor vehicle titling and licensing; recording and preservation of permanent public records; election administration and voter registration; serving as clerk to the board of county commissioners; and liquor license administration.

“After reviewing Regina’s resume and checking in with the Clerk’s Office staff, we knew there was no one more qualified to step into the position,” said Jeanne McQueeney, chair of the Board of County Commissioners. “She has jumped right in and facilitated a seamless transition in a very complex and busy office.”

O’Brien graduated magna cum laude from the University of Notre Dame with an undergraduate degree in government and international relations; and graduated magna cum laude from the University of Oregon with a Master of Business Administration.  A native of Illinois, O’Brien has lived in the Eagle Valley since 1997.  She currently lives in Edwards with her husband and two daughters.
