Teak J. Simonton, Eagle County Clerk and Recorder, took office in January of 2003. She serves as clerk to the board of commissioners and directs all aspects of Eagle County’s Clerk and Recorder Department.   

Teak moved to Vail after completing her Bachelor of Arts in International Relations at the University of Wisconsin in 1982, and began her career in multi-store retail management. During the 20 years that followed she gained extensive experience in personnel and financial management, customer service and computer applications, ultimately managing operations at 10 different ski shops in both Vail and Aspen. Teak’s management skills, combined with her long residency in the valley and her appreciation of the broad spectrum of people who live and work here, make her well suited to the public service environment at Eagle County. She is a member of the Colorado Association of Clerk and Recorders, chairs several statewide clerks’ committees, works closely with the Colorado Secretary of State on a voter registration system advisory board and is a member of the statewide clerk’s legislative committee.

Out of the workplace, Teak focuses on spending time with her family: husband Cliff and sons Kyle and Sands. She loves to cook, ride her bike, spend time in her garden and, of course, ski. She is committed to integrity and excellence in every aspect of her life.
