Representatives from public and private agencies are appointed to child protection teams in Eagle and El Jebel/Basalt to serve as “extra sets of eyes” on how the county handles reports of child abuse and neglect. The team reviews child abuse and neglect reports to determine whether the department’s responses were timely, adequate and in compliance with state law. It also reviews investigatory reports and the treatment services offered to families in connection with reported abuse.
