Leadership Opportunities

Several leadership development opportunities are available through the Colorado State 4-H Program, with something for all ages and interests. Transportation and chaperones are available for each of these trips.

District Retreat
District Retreat is for 4-H members from northwest Colorado who are a part of Districts 11 and 12 (Eagle, Grand, Jackson, Routt, Moffat, Rio Blanco and Garfield Counties).  The fun and excitement does not disappoint anyone.  Junior and Senior members have exciting workshops including: STEM, Duct Tape/T-Shirt, Taste of 4-H and Respectful Leadership. Senior members break off into Junior Leader programming including a Senior Think Tank where they work together to create a proposal for a Colorado 4-H. You won’t want to miss this amazing weekend packed full of activities, games, recreation, workshops and speakers.

Colorado Leadership Camp
This camp is held during a weekend in November, usually at a hotel in Glenwood Springs, for 4-Hers in the 6th, 7th, 8th or 9th grade. It features a keynote speaker that is sure to inspire and give you great ideas on leadership to take back to your county. In addition, various workshops, teambuilding activities and community service projects round out the weekend.

Interstate Exchange Program
Eagle County 4-H has been doing interstate exchanges since 2007. The first one was completed with North Dakota (2007/2008) and the most recent was completed with Ohio (2009/2010). Each exchange is a two-year commitment with another county in a different state. Eagle County either hosts first or travels first, whatever works best with the exchange partner. While hosting, 4-Hers stay the week with host families (Eagle County 4-Hers) and participate in activities that represent our county, way of life, and 4-H program.

Leadership Development Conference

4-H is an innovator in developing youth leadership and decision-making skills and prepare participants for the future.
The 4-H Development Conference is an annual state conference that concentrates on advanced leadership training and provides an opportunity for 4-H members to  network and share ideas with other 4-Hers from across the state. 4-Hers participating in workshop sessions will be motivates you to become  outstanding leaders.

  • Community service project off-site with a deserving organization coordinated by the Colorado State 4-H Officer Team
  • IFYE (International Foreign Youth Exchange) delegate presentation
  • Banquet and awards presentation – Sunday evening
  • Call to action think-tank meetings where youth will bring issues from their districts, vote on one and then break out into think-tanks to come up with solutions.
