4-H Youth Club Announcements

The Meat Quality Assurance
This class is required for all for all first year livestock (both market and breeding) members and all first year senior livestock members.  Attendance is required to complete your 4-H project, exhibit at the County Fair and sell your animal at the Jr. Livestock Auction.  There will be two opportunities to take this class:  Thursday, March 29 from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. in the Alpine Bank conference room or during the Livestock Seminar on Saturday, May 5 in the Eagle River Center.  Mark your calendar for one of these meetings and plan to attend in order to fulfill the requirement. 

4-H Livestock Seminar
Sweetwater Bandits 4-H Club will again host the 4-H Livestock Seminar.  This event is planned for Saturday, May 5 from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. in the Eagle River Center Speakers will be on hand to discuss selection, fitting, grooming, feeding and animal care.  Mark your calendar to attend this event and look for more details in the coming months.

The  2018 County Fair 4-H Rule Book contains comprehensive information pertaining to 4-H rules for County Fair.

4-H Calendar
Be sure and look at the 4-H calendar for all club meetings that have been set as well as all county events, including County Fair shows.

New 4-H Gardening Club!
If you are interested in growing your own food, digging in the dirt, and learning about plants; consider joining the Eagle County 4-H Gardening Club!  Contact Jenny for more information.   

Gypsum Creek 4-H Club 
Gypsum Creek 4-H Club will start having regular meetings in September.  This club, led by Emily Darrough, is open to all livestock kids, especially those interested in participating in livestock judging.  If interested in this club, please give Emily a call at (970) 445-7040.

4-H Barn in Eagle 
If you would like to keep swine, sheep, poultry or goats at the Eagle or Gypsum 4-H Barn, give us a call to reserve your pen.  Or, if you know of a friend that would like to raise livestock for 4-H but doesn't have a place to keep their animal, share with them this unique and wonderful opportunity to raise animals at the 4-H community barn!

4-H Awards Banquet
A great time was had by all at the annual 4-H Awards Banquet held October 8, 2017.  Special thanks to the 4-H County Council for emceeing the event and to everyone who participated both by attending and bringing food to share.  Congratulations to all members and leaders for another successful completion year and to all special award recipients.

All of the State Fair Exhibits are back in the office and ready to pick up. The Extension office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
