4-H Leader Meeting
If you are a leader of a 4-H club, please mark your calendar for Thursday, February 1 beginning at 6:30 p.m. for a 4-H leader’s meeting held at the Road/Bridge conference room in Gypsum.  We will be going over 4-H policy, schedules, rules and more.  You won’t want to miss it!

New 4-H Gardening Club!
If you are interested in growing your own food, digging in the dirt, and learning about plants; consider joining the Eagle County 4-H Gardening Club!  Contact Jenny for more information.   

Gypsum Creek 4-H Club 
Gypsum Creek 4-H Club will start having regular meetings in September.  This club, led by Emily Darrough, is open to all livestock kids, especially those interested in participating in livestock judging.  If interested in this club, please give Emily a call at (970) 445-7040.

2018 4-H Market Beef Weigh-In
Saturday, February 10 at 10:00 a.m. in the Eagle River Center is the place to be to weigh-in your market beef for the 2018 County Fair.  All market beef must be weighed/tagged at this time to be eligible to show at the County Fair.  You must have your brand inspection papers with you before weighing in.  No beef will be weighed/tagged without proper brand inspection papers.  Please plan ahead by getting your paperwork gathered up beforehand to avoid last minute anxiety.  If you are not able to bring your steer at this time, prior arrangements must be made with Jenny before February 10. 

Ag EXPO 2018
Ag EXPO 2018 is planned for Saturday, February 3 from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at the Garfield County Fairgrounds in Rifle, CO.  The Keynote Speaker will be Dr. Temple Grandin!   In addition, there will be educational workshops, exhibits, Kid’s Corner, and more.  Tickets must be purchased beforehand on Eventbrite.com   https://www.eventbrite.com/e/ag-expo-2018-tickets-35976688243     

4-H Barn in Eagle 
If you would like to keep swine, sheep, poultry or goats at the Eagle or Gypsum 4-H Barn, give us a call to reserve your pen.  Or, if you know of a friend that would like to raise livestock for 4-H but doesn't have a place to keep their animal, share with them this unique and wonderful opportunity to raise animals at the 4-H community barn!

Rocky Mountain Oyster Fry
Mark your calendar for the 2018 Rocky Mountain Oyster Fry: Saturday, March 17, 2018!  The committee is excited that they were able to fund $2,667 of club requests that came in last month.  In addition, $6,000 was just awarded in 4-H scholarships from RMOF funds.  

4-H Awards Banquet
A great time was had by all at the annual 4-H Awards Banquet held October 8.  Special thanks to the 4-H County Council for emceeing the event and to everyone who participated both by attending and bringing food to share.  Congratulations to all members and leaders for another successful completion year and to all special award recipients.

All of the State Fair Exhibits are back in the office and ready to pick up. The Extension office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
