Adoptions

All animals available for adoption can be visited at the Eagle County Animal Shelter. We encourage people looking for a new pet to come spend some time with them in an effort to ensure a good match. Current adoption hours are Monday - Friday 9 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. You are able to view and visit with animals up until 4:30 p.m. each week day and until 12:30 p.m. on Saturdays. All dogs and cats have been vaccinated and spayed or neutered. Although we take every precaution to assure the health of our shelter animals, no guarantee of any kind can be given.

Animal Services is always seeking foster homes for orphaned animals needing newborn to 8 week-old care, frightened animals needing socialization, and special needs animals who require healing or rehabilitation help. We may also need homes for litters of puppies and kittens, with or without mothers.

Volunteer Program - Eagle County Animal Services has a highly successful citizen volunteer program. Please call 328-DOGS to make a difference in the life of a shelter cat or dog today!

Barn Cats are available at no charge to you. We are currently seeking barn homes for our barn kitties. They are spayed or neutered, have been vaccinated, and are feline leukemia negative. For more information please call 328-DOGS.

Adopting a new animal is an important decision. When you decide to adopt a new pet, you are making a long term commitment to care for and provide for the animal. In return, you will receive the unconditional love only a pet can offer.

It is the policy of the Animal Shelter that all dogs and cats be spayed or neutered and vaccinated before they are considered to be adoptable. Any person wishing to adopt an animal must be at least 17 years of age or older and adoptions are handled on a first-come, first-served basis.
