Animal Licensing

All dogs that live in Eagle County for two weeks or more during the year are required by law to be licensed with Eagle County Animal Services.  These licenses must be renewed each year and are good for the calendar year only.

Dog owners now have the option of licensing their dog for a three year period.  Please take advantage of the reduced prices on the early registration and 3 year pet license options on the pet license application.

Please note the change in dates for the early renewal period below.

One year license
If you license your dog between January 1 and February 28, we offer a discounted rate of $5 for spayed or neutered dogs and $10 for dogs that are not spayed or neutered on a one year pet license.  Beginning March 1, the licenses go to $10 for spayed or neutered dogs and $20 for dogs that are not spayed or neutered on a one year pet license.

Three year license
If you license your dog between January 1 and February 28, we offer a discounted rate of $12.50 for spayed or neutered dogs and $25 for dogs that are not spayed or neutered for a three year pet license.  Beginning March 1, the licenses go to $25 for spayed or neutered dogs and $55 for dogs that are not spayed or neutered for a three year pet license.

You must provide proof of current rabies vaccination in order to acquire the license.  This license becomes a very helpful tool in reuniting owners with their pets in case a dog becomes lost as well.

A completed Pet License Application must be submitted to Animal Services with your proof of rabies vaccination in order for staff to process the license application.

Cat licensing is not required in Eagle County, but you may purchase a cat license for $5 if you want added protection for your pet.
